DNA Genetics was founded in Amsterdam in 2004 by Don Morris and Aaron Yarkoni, two California natives who relocated to the Netherlands specifically because it was, at the time, one of the only places in the world where they could legally breed and commercialise the Californian genetics they'd grown up around. They arrived with limited funds but a strong personal genetics library, and within their first year had already picked up an award for L.A. Confidential - a strain that would go on to win High Times Strain of the Year in 2006.

Over the two decades since, DNA Genetics has accumulated more than 200 international awards, including 14 High Times Cannabis Cup wins, and was inducted into the High Times Seedbank Hall of Fame in 2009 - a track record that makes the brand one of the most decorated seed companies in the industry's history. Alongside L.A. Confidential, strains like Chocolope, Kosher Kush and Tangie have become genuine modern classics, widely used as parent genetics by other breeders.

DNA's influence has extended well beyond seed sales, too - the company has licensed its genetics to licensed producers across Canada, the US and Jamaica through partnerships with groups like Canopy Growth, and acquired Crockett Family Farms (breeders of the award-winning Tangie) in 2019, broadening its genetic library further.
