Resin Seeds was founded in Barcelona in 2008 by Jaime, who had opened one of Spain's very first cannabis grow shops a decade earlier in 1998 alongside his close friend and business partner Juanma. Running that shop for years gave Jaime direct, ongoing conversations with medical cannabis patients - exposure that shaped his decision to start breeding genetics aimed specifically at medical needs rather than recreational potency alone.

That focus led directly to Cannatonic, unveiled at Spannabis 2008 and widely regarded as one of the first true CBD-rich cannabis strains to reach the commercial market - a genuine turning point for what was then an almost entirely THC-focused breeding world. The strain's impact was significant enough that Jaime went on to partner with Shantibaba of Mr Nice Seedbank to found CBD Crew, a joint venture dedicated to developing further high-CBD genetics for medical patients, working toward stable 1:1 CBD:THC ratios.

Resin Seeds built several of its other well-known strains, including Bubblicious, through direct collaboration with legendary breeders Soma (Soma Seeds) and Adam (T.H. Seeds) rather than working in isolation. The catalogue today spans both the brand's CBD-focused heritage and high-THC hybrids like Critical Haze and LA Ultra, in regular and feminised form.
