T.H. Seeds was founded in Amsterdam in 1993 by American breeders Adam Dunn and Doug, making it one of the oldest cannabis seed companies still operating today. Before starting the company, Dunn had worked at Sensi Seeds during the early 1990s alongside future founders of other major Dutch seed banks - including Simon, who would go on to found Serious Seeds - giving him a front-row view of both the successes and the breeding mistakes of the era's other operations before striking out on his own.

Dunn and Doug opened C.I.A. Cannabis (Cannabis Information Center) in Amsterdam in 1993, which grew into Hemp Works, described by cannabis author Robert Connell Clarke as "the epicenter of the cannabis universe" - a shop that introduced thousands of international visitors to cannabis culture and became a fixture of the Amsterdam Cannabis Cup for over two decades under Dunn's "Sagemasta" persona.

The brand's breeding legacy includes Original Bubblegum - grown from seeds a friend collected in Rhode Island in the early 1990s - alongside S.A.G.E. (Sativa Afghani Genetic Equilibrium) and MK-Ultra, both multiple Cannabis Cup winners. T.H. Seeds holds more than 20 High Times Cannabis Cup wins overall, and Dunn was inducted into the High Times Seed Bank Hall of Fame in 2007.
