Trilogene Seeds was founded in 2018 by CEO Matthew Haddad in Longmont, Colorado, built around a genuinely science-first approach to cannabis genetics that draws on formal biotechnology and agricultural research rather than traditional legacy breeding alone. The team includes credentialed plant scientists - including lead geneticist Dr. Oussama Badad, a Fulbright Fellow with a background spanning generations of Moroccan cannabis knowledge alongside formal plant science training.

Trilogene's standout contribution to the wider industry is its pioneering work in triploid cannabis genetics - plants bred with three sets of chromosomes instead of the usual two, a technique borrowed from mainstream agriculture (used for seedless watermelons, for instance) and applied to cannabis to produce more consistent, pollen-resistant plants suited to large-scale production. This work extends internationally: a partnership with Puro, a medicinal cannabis producer in New Zealand, made Puro the first cultivator to grow triploid cannabis in the Southern Hemisphere.
