CBDV isolate at Express Highs
Welcome to Express Highs. We sell CBDV isolate, shipped directly to your door anywhere in Europe. So if you're looking to buy cannabinoids, you're in the right spot. We've been doing this a long time, and we've built a reputation for delivering discreetly and reliably. That's true for the well-known stuff like CBD, and it's just as true for the more obscure cannabinoids that most people have never heard of. CBDV falls firmly into that second category. But it's interesting, it's been studied, and it's worth knowing about.
What is cannabidivarin (CBDV) isolate?
Cannabidivarin isolate is cannabidivarin in its purest form: a single compound, separated out from everything else the hemp plant produces. It's 95% to 99% pure and comes as a fine, white to off-white crystalline powder with no noticeable smell or taste. No other cannabinoids, no flavonoids, no terpenes, no waxes, no lipids, no plant material – just isolated CBDV, with at most trace amounts of related compounds, all of which are listed on the lab report for each batch. Either way, CBDV is by far the most prominent ingredient.
The hemp plant is one of the most complex in the plant kingdom. It produces an enormous number of compounds as it grows, and not all of them have been studied. There are compounds in this plant that science hasn't even got around to naming properly yet, let alone figuring out what they do. CBDV, however, has been studied, so let's take a look at it in relation to the regular CBD everyone knows and loves.
How the plant makes CBDV
The plant makes CBDV through a different starting material than CBD. Instead of olivetolic acid, it uses divarinolic acid, which is less common in most Cannabis sativa cultivars. That's why CBDV concentrations are typically low in standard strains. The plant just doesn't have a lot of the starting material lying around, so it can't make much CBDV even if it wanted to.
Exceptions exist, though. Some landrace strains from north-west India and Nepal have historically shown elevated CBDV-to-CBD ratios. Landrace strains are the old-school varieties, the ones that have been growing in one place for generations without anyone messing with them too much. And in those places, the plant figured out how to make more CBDV on its own. Selective breeding programmes have since produced higher-CBDV chemovars for research purposes, so now you can find strains that are specifically bred to pump out more CBDV than nature would normally bother with.
Physical properties, handling and storage
CBDV isolate is a white to off-white crystalline powder with a reported melting point around 220°C. That's a high melting point, much higher than CBG isolate, which melts around 52°C, so this is a sturdy powder that won't go soft in a warm room. It's lipophilic, which means it dissolves in oils and organic solvents but not in water, same as most cannabinoids. It's flavourless and odourless, so it won't alter the sensory profile of whatever you're working with. You can mix it into oil-based formulations without worrying about it changing the taste or smell of the final product.
Store it in a well-closed container protected from air and light. For long-term storage, refrigeration or freezing is recommended: short-term storage at 2 to 8°C and long-term storage at −20°C or below is the standard advice for maintaining stability. That's a fancy way of saying keep it cool and keep it dark. If you're planning to use it soon, a cool cupboard is probably fine. If you're planning to keep it around for a while, the fridge or freezer is your friend.
Know your source
One thing worth noting about sourcing: not every CBDV isolate on the market is the same, even when they all claim 95% or higher purity. Depending on how it was produced, an isolate may carry trace amounts of related cannabinoids such as CBD or CBDVA alongside the CBDV. Whether that matters for your purposes is up to you, but it's something to be aware of when comparing sources, and it's exactly why we publish the third-party lab report for every batch we sell. Just know what you're getting.
Why buy CBDV from Express Highs?
Remember that here at Express Highs we carry the newest and most interesting novel cannabinoids for researchers and collectors. That's what we do. We're not out here selling the same tired products everyone else has. We're the ones bringing you the stuff that's actually worth paying attention to: the cannabinoids that are still being studied, still being talked about, still raising eyebrows in research circles. If it's new, if it's interesting, if it's the kind of thing you'd have a hard time finding anywhere else, that's what we stock. Researchers and collectors come to us because they know we've got the good stuff, and they know we've been doing this long enough to do it right.
