Cannabinoid Isolates

If you're looking for cannabinoid isolates, you've landed in the right place. Here at Express Highs we've built a reputation as the best online headshop in Europe, and part of that reputation comes from carrying the stuff you simply can't find in person. Anyone can sell you a bag of CBD flower. Not everyone can ship you a gram of CBT isolate or a jar of CBDA powder, discreetly, right to your door. We can, and we do it every day.

What Is a Cannabinoid Isolate?

So what exactly is an isolate? The short version is that it's one cannabinoid and nothing else. The hemp plant produces well over a hundred different cannabinoids, plus terpenes, flavonoids, waxes and lipids, all mixed together in the resin. An isolate is what you get when a lab pulls a single compound out of that mix and refines it until there's basically nothing left but the compound itself. We're talking purity levels of 95% to 99% depending on the cannabinoid. No THC, no terpenes, no plant material, no "tagalongs." Just the molecule you asked for.

That's a big deal if you care about knowing exactly what you're working with. Full spectrum and broad spectrum distillates are great, and we carry plenty of those too, but they're a cocktail by design. An isolate is a single ingredient. If you want to add a precise amount of CBG to an oil, or study how CBN behaves on its own without CBD muddying the water, isolate is the only way to do it properly. It's also the cleanest way to get a cannabinoid, because everything that could carry an impurity along with it, from plant matter to mould spores to residual solvents, gets stripped out during processing. The purity is baked into the product.

How Cannabinoid Isolates Are Made

Let's talk about how they're made, because it matters. Most isolates start life the same way distillates do. Labs take hemp biomass and run a CO2 or ethanol extraction to pull the resin out of the plant. That crude extract then gets winterized to remove waxes and lipids, and distilled so the individual cannabinoids can be separated out by their boiling points. For an isolate the work doesn't stop there. The target fraction is taken through chromatography and crystallization, sometimes several rounds of it, until the lab is left with a single, verifiable compound. Some of the rarer cannabinoids in our range, like CBG-O, CBD-O, CBNO, CBNP and CBG9, aren't practical to pull out of the plant at all because the plant barely makes them. Those are produced synthetically or semi-synthetically from a hemp-derived starting material, which is exactly why they come out so clean. Either way, the result is a crystalline powder, a semi-fluid amber liquid, or something in between, and it should come with a lab report proving what's in it.

The Isolates We Carry

Here's a quick tour of what you'll find in this category. CBD isolate is the classic, a white powder at 99% purity that goes into everything from homemade edibles to oils and dabs. CBG isolate is the "mother cannabinoid," the building block the plant makes first before it converts most of it into CBD and THC, which is why pure CBG is rarer and takes a lot more plant material to produce. CBN isolate is the one people reach for in the evening, formed as THC degrades over time and widely reported to be the mellow one of the family. CBC isolate is interesting because it doesn't appear to bind to the CB1 or CB2 receptors at all and finds its own way in through other channels. Then there are the acidic precursors, CBDA and CBGA, which are what the plant actually builds before heat decarboxylates them, so you can work with the raw form that fresh hemp contains.

From there it gets more exotic. CBDV is the propyl cousin of CBD with a shorter side chain, and it's been studied more seriously than most people realise. CBT, cannabicitran, is one of the rarest cannabinoids in the plant and unusual in that it occurs naturally as a 50/50 mix of mirror image molecules. CBDP and CBNP are the seven-carbon "phorol" versions of CBD and CBN, with longer tails that change how they behave. CBD-O, CBG-O and CBNO are acetylated versions of the originals, modified for stability and solubility. CBG9 is a structural variation of CBG that's only just starting to get attention. And H4CBD, hydrogenated CBD, takes the familiar CBD molecule and adds four hydrogen atoms, which is enough to make it feel both familiar and completely different. Every one of these gets its own product page with the full breakdown, so dig in.

Handling and Storing Isolates

Handling isolates isn't complicated, but a few things matter. Most of them are lipophilic, meaning they dissolve in oils, butter and alcohol but not in water, so oil-based formulations are the easy route. Powders are plug and play. The liquid isolates, like CBC, may need a little gentle warming before they flow nicely. Store everything in an airtight container, away from UV light and heat. Unopened, shelf life typically runs from 12 to 24 months depending on the compound, so keep it cool, keep it dark, keep it sealed and don't leave it on a windowsill.

Legal Compliance in the EU

A word on the legal side, because we take it seriously. Everything we sell contains less than 0.2% THC and is EU compliant. Under EU rules, cannabinoid extracts including isolates are classed as Novel Foods, which means they're not authorized for sale as food or food supplements without pre-market approval, and these products are sold as research and collector items accordingly. Regulations move fast in this space, and what's allowed today might change tomorrow, so do your own research and stay informed.
