Mr Nice Seedbank Cannabis Seeds

Mr Nice Seedbank was founded in 1998 by Scott Blakey - known throughout the cannabis world by his breeding name, Shantibaba - together with Howard Marks, the cannabis smuggler-turned-author known as "Mr Nice." Before setting up shop together, Shantibaba had already co-founded Greenhouse Seed Co. in 1994 and, working alongside pioneering breeder Neville Schoenmakers, created two of the most influential strains in modern cannabis history: White Widow, which won the 1995 Cannabis Cup, and Super Silver Haze, a three-time Cannabis Cup winner in 1997, 1998 and 1999.

When Shantibaba parted ways with his Greenhouse partners, he took his original mother and father plants with him rather than the strain names, which legally stayed with Greenhouse - so he renamed his own original genetics to distinguish them clearly: White Widow became Black Widow, Great White Shark became Shark Shock, and White Rhino became Medicine Man. That renaming means Mr Nice's catalogue contains the actual original breeding stock behind some of cannabis's most copied strains, not later reproductions.

True to Shantibaba's stated preference for genetic authenticity over trend-chasing, Mr Nice remains one of relatively few seed banks still committed primarily to regular seeds rather than feminised genetics, aimed squarely at breeders and growers who want to work with unmodified, original lineage.
